Hey guys,

I have my DualMax 1800 for sale in the Classified section of the Cow. Price was just lowered to $3,000. If you need more dual channel storage, this is a great deal. I'm switching over to all Fibrechannel so I'm getting rid of all of my SCSI units. Price is around $5,700 brand new.

Full description in the Classified forum of the Cow.

What are you using for a Fibre card?

I'm thinking of the fibre route as well (way down the line). I'm looking at the whole XRaid setup, but it looks like I'd save more money doing a Medea setup. Will this work with a Apple fibre card?
How's the Pipe treating you (long term report)? I still have my eye on a PipeStudio for later this year.

Peace
Ron

Yep, Medea recommends the Apple Fibre card as one of the options and right now it's the lowest cost option out there. It's most likely the one I will go with.

The PipePro is just rock solid. The best, most stable editing system I've cut with. I'm actually opting for the PipeStudio myself so I can get the analog inputs back in.

I wonder if Pinnacle will have an answer for the Pipe and Konas of today. Cinewave still has the advantage for my workflow with multicodec editing and HD/SD on one card, but to build another Cinewave setup is too expensive when you consider the alternative. At least I'll have two strong systems in the end.

Thanks
Ron

Pinnacle has been completely silent on my end and I know that Lisa Diener is gone. She was one of the main engineers on the CineWave product line and with her gone, that just sounds like one more nail in the coffin for the product line.

Keep your current CineWave running as it's still a good product, but build any future suite around the Kona 2.

You mean the Pipe... right? I actually cut an HD spot with the Kona over the summer... it was a good experience, but I think the Pipe will serve me better.

I noticed the absence of Lisa from the forums... I guess we'll have to wait and see. Pinnacle is has always been quiet about Cinewave and then they drop the big BOMB on the industry... most recently with the 66Mhz upgrade. Somehow I don't think we should expect any more "big" things from Pinnacle as far as Cinewave is concerned. A drastic price cut on the line would spark a little life.

Pipe is SD only, I want SD/HD on the same card. So that will be the Kona 2.

At this time it would be good to know if there even will be a Mac OS 10.4 driver for CW. Any word on this?
