I've noticed a few things regarding CinéWave's behavior in X when it comes to displaying video on an NTSC monitor...

1) With External Video set to "Off" video output to the monitor does not update when scrubbing through unrendered non-RT effects.

2) With External Video set to "All Frames" video output to the monitor does not update when scrubbing through anything. Only hitting play will force CinéWave to update.

3) Switching between the Viewer and the Canvas in "All Frames" does not result in any update on the NTSC output.

4) Swtiching between the Viewer and the Canvas in "Off" results in a delay where the default CinéWave output (i.e. color bars, black, blue) flash on the monitor.

I find myself constantly switching External Video settings to try to see what I'm doing on the NTSC monitor, and the delay between Viewer and Canvas makes it really hard to eye-match shots into a sequence. Is anyone else running into this, and are there any workarounds or fixes?

As always, thanks in advance-
Bill

The recommended setting for the External Video is "All Frames." The scrubbing behavior when set to "All Frames" is something that we are investigating at this time.

David-

I'll do just that. Thanks for the feedback.

Cheers,
Bill

Bill,

Is your F15 key able to still do a "force-a-frame-out update"? Does it help with your limitation?
If it does, try putting a day-glo sticker on it so you can hit it quickly.

Bill, just FYI, I'm getting the exact same behavior here with the scrubbing. Nothing updates on the NTSC monitor with All Frames or with any other setting.
