hi!

quark xpress is running under osx, but not with full support
(aqua)
my question is: is there any difference in performance between
applications fully supported and those like quark?

hello...

are you asking about carbon and cocoa (the os x apis)? if so, then this brief explanation might help a bit:

http://www.lowendmac.com/itc/010330.html

if you mean that it's running in the classic shell from within os x, then while it will work, you might find it a bit slow and crash-prone (i.e. more than if you were running it in 9 directly)...
