The current version of Echo Fire (2.0.3) works fine with AE 5.5 under OS 9.x.
As for OS X support, we've Carbonized most all of Echo Fire already, but are waiting on others for things like Photoshop for OS X and working video board drivers.
As a product that plugs into other applications, we're kind of in the back of the line, waiting for everyone else to finish their work. But we remain committed to OS X and will support it with Echo Fire as soon as all the pieces are in place.
