Hello to all the experts, I'm very frustrated as I have a big problem in using my Canon MV300I. I have a fire wire card from DIGITAL ORIGIN which was delivered with INTRO DV (very basic video editing software) which does not allow to export in MPEG1 or 2 format but the import and export works so it is no fault with the CARD or Cam. But now I'm searching for the next generation of Video Editing software like Premiere or MainActor. In both Programms I can not import from the Cam as it is not recognized.
When I take a look on the device manager I can see the 1394 DigitalOrigin Host adapter but I think there should be a Video device like my Cam but it isn't does anybody have an idea what I can do?

Does your OS support your firewire card?
For instance my Adaptec card was not supported by Windows98, only
98SE, 2000 etc.
It took me a while to figure this out even tho it was clearly printed on the box and I had very similar impression that I was missing drivers. Drivers are not supplied by Adaptec or MS for W98.

I have the Adaptec FireConnect 4300 and it works fine. It´s a
bit more expensive than many others. I just wanted one that I could be sure worked with Premiere 6 and this was the only one approved by Adobe that I could buy in my part of the world. If you go to Adobe´s site you can find a compatibility list for Premiere, maybe you can find a cheaper one that is guaranteed to work. The FireConnect card actually came with an DV editor by MGI. It also comes with a Firewire cable which is not that cheap to buy separately.

I noticed for about the same price Creative have a 6 channel sound card with Firewire on the card. No Firewire cable included though and I don´t know if it´s approved by Adobe.

Good Luck
