Location of RAM Identity
by Peacejames on Jan 30, 2004 at 7:34:57 pm

I have a client that wnats to upgrade her RAM in her Windows 98, Intel Celeron 333mghz Computer with currently only 88 megs of RAM. I am a Mac guy and can't find anywhere, Even in the system control panel, the kind of RAM she has installed now so we can buy more. I can easily install it myself, but don't know what kind to buy.
Can someone tell me where to look in WIndows 98 that will tell you what kind of RAM it is?

Thanks a lot,
Matt

You wont find it in Windows. You can find it in the motherboard manual. Most likely it is PC66 or PC100 SDRAM. You can always take existing RAM to local store and they can tell you what kind it is.

odd amount of RAM. 88...hm....probably 96 64+32 pc66.might be pc 100.
its best to take out the old ram and take that thinge to nearest comp shop.
(jus like mr. earl mentioned)
but ~~you wont see the improvement in speed with adding more ram esp. when your client is using p2 celeron 333. + running windows98. i suggest upgrade or buy a new computer instead of putting more ram. $300 is more than enough to buy a new system.(i would say athlon 1800+area)
have a nice day. if you have any question regarding upgrade or building new system i'll gladly help you out. =)

You can try an app that displays information about your computer - http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32 - this would be one option if you whant something free.
