I'm looking for recommendations on a good quality printer for text with graphics (not photos). Something that is reasonably fast, prints good quality, has a USB 2 connection, and is XP compatible.
I currently have an HP Deskjet 932C, which has some issues with XP. I'm for a printer that is at least as good as the 932C, if not better.
Any suggestions?

I have been a Canon fan for many years and perfectly happy with low to mid end printers. The main advantage (other than working well) is the ink tanks; they can be purchased seperately...you can see thru them...and the printer will not stop (like Epson) with the first low ink warning...AND the printers come with FULL ink...unlike most others.
No issues with any OS.

Mike,
With individual ink tanks, I assume the Cannons have a permanent ink head nozzle array like the Epsons do. I've only owned Epson inkjet color printers but lost one due to a clogged printhead. The Epson 870 that I currently own is having problems leaving a few thin colored lines, maybe about 5 lines per 8" x 10" printout. (looks like about 1 pixel wide horizontal lines varying from 1" to 6", usually blue green in color.) The lines are definitely due to a dirty printhead since they go away for a short while after cleaning.
I've been thinking of switching to a HP printer since I think they all have their printheads built into the ink cartridges and one gets a new printhead with every cartridge change. Know if my assumption about all HP inkjet printers having replaceable printheads is correct?
I'm also concerned about the paper path through HP printers. Seems they all have front loading paper which requires a 180 degree turn. Anyone have problems with that using thicker photo quality glossy paper?
Thanks,
Morris

The Cannon print heads are available with the tanks for about $12 more than the cost of the tanks (one head with 4 tanks). My experience with a friends fairly new epson was that the heads needed cleaning with almost every print job and it thew up more error messages than Carter has pills.
He finnaly took my advise and got a Canon for about $40 more than the cost of tanks for the epson.
My current Canon works like a charm and cost $59 after rebate...with ink!

Replaceable printheads puts Cannon back into the running. Thanks for that info!
