My machine keeps on shutting down

I posted a thread last year about building a system to do computer animation on. And you guys suggested a double processor AMD Athlon MP. Tyan Tiger mother board. Anyways the computer shuts off after long periods of time, or hard work. I thought it would be a heat problem so I installed a bunch of fans and heatsinks, but the computer still does it. It crashes in the middle of rendering or just working, sometimes costing me a lot of time and years of my life because I get so mad. I need some help before I kill the box.
Thanks
Desperate

I'm not shure how to, but they should be low since I put a monster heatsink on each processor, and thermal compound, and it should have been acting a little better since I put all these cooling stuff on it(4 80mm fans & 2 120mm fans) I'm thinking it migt have something to do with the power supply(300w), but I don't know, how do I check the temperature?

You can either download the Tyan System Monitor at www.tyan.com or you can go into the BIOS and check the CPU temp under the Hardware menu. The Tyan System Monitor will also tell you what is going on with your power supply. 300W is very borderline for a system like this. I would recommend 400 - 450W.

Interesting! This just happened to me last Sunday after a 1 hour capture of a live event. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. I haven't been able to duplicate the shut down, but I have noticed a slight build up of dirt on the heat sinks. I will clean those off and see how it goes. I was not aware that a PS could cause this problem. I will definatly get the Tyan monitor. Thanks everyone.

You may want to check the thermal grease on your procs, and if the heatsink is seated right. Copper heatsinks can disfigure over time in some cases. You may also try "lapping" the heatsinks by sanding the bottoms on a flat surface(like a piece of tempered glass) using a circular motion (light, steady pressure) with wet/dry sandpaper from 200 grit all the way up to 600 until it is smooth and they makebetter contact with the procs. Clean them off with isopropyl alcohol, re-grease them with Arctic Silver paste and re-seat them on the procs. I do this to all my brand new heatsinks.
