Hi all, does the A05 work now? Noah said I should hold off about a month ago.
Is it now safe to shop?
Does Toast work and DVDSP on it?
In Canada Future Shop is selling them for $399 can
$100 less than just a few weeks ago.
My 103 fried on my G4 877.
Best
Peter

I just got mine out of the box today. Given that I am just burning DVD ROMs for backup purposes right now... it seems to work fine. Mine is Firewired. Toast works fine.

It is SLOW. Reminds me of the days when burning a CD was a chore.

I will let you know when it is used for video.

I have one in a firewire housing as well--but am using it on a PC, and it works great. I've used the 4x media, and burning 4.3+ gigs in ~15 minutes seems pretty fast to me. Video burning goes without a hitch (again I'm on a PC, using ReelDVD and Prassi PrimoDVD).

We've got a plan to get an A05 by next month, to use on a PC, for the purpose of making video DVD's with myDVD.
What's your system specs?

On a prior email on this list somebody said the 105 stuck out further than the 103 in their G4.

It's in a firewire enclosure, and I hot plug/swap the drive between three computers:

laptop PC with firewire PCMCIA card/port; P3 500Mhz with Win98SE
dual P3 1 gig system Win2K
single P3 1 gig Win2K

Works great on all three machines.
