I was needing some advice and info from some DVD genius types. Is there a way to link multiple dvd players together so one wired remote control could control all of them? I have thought about just getting a stack of similar DVD players and then just use one remote. But i was wondering if there was anything a little more professional out there.
Thanks for any help-
brad

For exhibition purposes, ie. running a bank of tv moniters, I have used a stack of similar vcrs and one remote. Simple, works fine, and if you want to synchronize players just use individual control panels for adjustments. I would think the same process would work well with DVD players. (Bonus: you accumulate a drawer full of extra remotes.)

That was my first idea, i was just unsure of how tight the sync would be. If I am playing track1 and jump to track3 will they all go together, a few frames off, a second off?
just wondering if there is a way to trigger them and keep it all near frame accurate. Is that too much to ask of a DVD player.
Thanks for the help!

There are two DVD players on the market that include an RS-232 interface for playback control. The Pioneer DVD-V7400 and the Philips DVD-175 both have this capability.

The Pioneer unit is an "industrial" player that has been designed for applications that need to work 24/7. The Philips unit is essentially a consumer grade player with an extra interface.

There are also 3rd party controllers that will allow you to control multiple playback devices with frame accurate precision.

If you dont need frame accurate synchronization then a bank of the same make and model DVD player and a single remote should do the trick.

There is an extensive list of 3rd party products that work with the Pioneer DVD-V7400 on Pioneer's web site. Here is a web link to the page that covers the player. If you click on the drop down menu and select 3rd party products you can see the list.
