Hi All,

I could swear that I've worked on an Avid that had the timeline scale command mapped to keys on the keyboard, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it on my DVX 3.5 system. Any insight? It would be great to be able to just hit a key to start zooming out, and hit another key to zoom in, instead of always having to slide that damnable slider.

Avid introduced this with Xpress to replace the foucus command. It proved popular so they included it with MC and XDV products. Your default mapping should have the up and down arrow as zoom in and out of the timeline. If this isn't the case you can use CTL L and CTL K or map the menu commands to your keyboard.

HTH.

On PC XDV 3.0. Ctl+L or K just changes the track width. There is no way to map the Up or Down arrow to any other key or increase/reduce the timeline using Command Palette. (Media Composer allows this.)

On the PC,it is possible to assign the Up & Down arrows to extra buttons on a programmable mouse.

Thanks for the pointers, guys. The up/down arrows work fine. Better than having to always move the slider.
