Working on a western promo that needs some "flash" producer has suggested a Silver Bullet transition. I've always just extruded elements in Invigrator but I know you can make spheres as well. Is the shape of a bullet too much for Invigrator or could I do this somehow? Thanks in advance

Jon

Hi Jon,

If you were using the Pro version, I'd say no problem. Build a custom bevel... the same sort of thing that allows you to create complex glassware shapes with Invig, as you'll see here: http://www.zaxwerks.com/2004/custom_edges.html

With the classic version, I'd suggest building your bullet in pieces.. break down the bullet into simple shapes like a cylinder for the body... a sphere (perhaps elongated) for the tip, etc. So long as all of your pieces are in the same set and lined up properly, the bullet will appear seamless.

Hi,
Just adding to Jon's suggestions. In case you have the Pro version you could download the following custom profile from my site for a regular bullet:
http://www.nyc-visual.com/bullet_1.sit
http://www.nyc-visual.com/bullet.mov
If you need some help with the bump mapping etc. Let us now and I will up an AE 6 AEP I did for someone at the AE forum.
Salut
Serge

Thanks for the tips guys. I'd love to go the pro route but that's just not possible. I will attempt to make something with Classic but have a feeling its not going to look anywhere new as slick as Serge's.

Thanks again!

Jon

Hi Jon,

I'm willing to wager you could make a bullet that looks exactly like Serge's in Classic. Just examine the bullet and break it down into component shapes... several cylinders of varying depths and a recessed sphere shape for the tip.

Have fun!

Jon

Hi Jonathan,
Jon is right Classic can do the same bullet using two tinny circles.
What really sells it though are the way you create your Bump Map.
Here is a project for you with the classic version. Check the Bump Map and the edges I used for the 2 objects.
