I'm trying to re-create an animated logo that was generated in another 3D program. The logo is really simple. It's three words, one on top of the other. The original looks like it's made out of metal and rotates slowly, with some nice light shining off of it. I've done a bit of playing around with ZWI, but I just can't seem to get any good results. Are there textures I can purchase or download from somewhere that would replicate a metalic finish.

Any help or insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

ed

Hi Ed,

You can find lots of free textures all over the web. Check out Newtek... the Lightwave people. They've posted many free textures in the past and those may still be available.

Whether you need those textures really depends on the type of metal you're after. The critical part of many recipes is in reflection and bump mapping. You can use some of the default Invigorator materials to start... Chrome, for example, uses a black color and a high degree of reflectivity. Search this forum for "metal" and you'll get lots of additional tips.

What kind of metal are you going for?

Jon

As they say, timing is everything.

The previous collections have been worth having... I'll have to check these out too.
