Does Sony PD150 offer user selectable color bars? Can't find any info in Sony Brochures.
Thanks

Thanks. How do you get to them? Are they SMPTE or just plain bars.
I am considering this cam over a Panasonic DV100a and bars are important.

Although it doesn't mention if the generated bars are SMPTE it's still a good article on the PD170.

Thanks Don for the good review information.

I am now trying to decide between PD170 and Panasonic DV100A. (Sony seems more compat, Pany has bigger viewfinder.)

What is your opinion.

thanks

The Panny DVX100A is an exellent camera, but I can't recommend one over the other because each one has strengths and weaknesses and you have to decide which one works best for the type of shooting you need to do. The Panasonic will shoot in 24p but not the Sony. The PD170 has better low light capabilities than the DVX110A, etc. and the list goes on. I'm sure you'd be happy with the performance of either camera.

Cameras are becoming more specialized all the time. I ordered a PD170 because I need a low light camera for wedding receptions and the Sony is the king of low light shooting. But I also ordered a Canon XL2 to replace my XL1S because I like the look of the Canon picture, the 20X zoom (Sony is 12X and the Panny is only 10X) and also because I already have a Canon GL2 (also 20X zoom) to match the picture with the XL series. 20X zoom is important to me because we need to get tight shots of weddings from long distances and still remain out of the way.

Decide what attributes you need in a camera and get that one.
