My VX2000 won't eject the tape. Error msg c31:98. Originally the error msg was c32:20, but then I removed the battery and then put it back in and the msg changed. I removed the tape door and looked. The tape is not threaded, but the bottom of the tape is open, when it should be closed to eject.

Anything I can do before sending it in?

Thanks in advance,
Todd

Try pressing the reset button with the cam on and they try the eject, don't try to force the mechanism, it sounds like its stuck part way in the load/unload sequence for some reason, it could just be a software glitch, thats why the reset, its worth a few bucks to have a "qualified" repair person to look at it.

whats the deal with Sonys? My dvx 1000 has the same problem. You would think that a simple function such as opening a door and ejecting the tape that Sony could handle this.

If its happening rarely it could be a cassette, if frequently I would take it in for service, I've quite a few tapes through a VX1K and VX2K with only one jam and that was a cassette problem, although I've seen some have component problems like a malfunctioning load motor, that can happen with any product.

Is there a menu that is accessible on the 1000 that will allow the camera to be set to 16:9 or change the settings to get a more film look?

You can change the White balance to get a warmer look, play with the sharpness, and the color LV settings to see if you can find what you want, do subtle changes.
BTW Are your cassettes sticking part way in?
