MKSBattery run audio amp with AGC

Am looking for a battery operated headphone amplifier that has automatic gain control. Even a kit or just a schematic diagram that I can build one from will do. Any suggestions appreciated.

Anchor used to have some of these, but I don't know if they still do or not. You could search for them on the web, i'm certain you'll find several hits.
Also, carvin, (not carver) had a battery operated/limited headphone amp. Again, don't know if it's current model or not.
