Delete Temp Rendered Files & Captured Files?
by Rafi Bagramian on Oct 25, 2004 at 3:18:00 am

Am I supposed to delete the "Temporary Rendered Files" occasionally? (To clean up) Will I loose any data on Projects or Rendered Files that are saved. What about Captured Files?

Thanks.

If they are truly temporary files, they can be deleted.

If they are captured files that you no longer need, they can be deleted.

If they are pre-rendered files that you no longer need, they can be deleted.

If you don't delete them at some point, you will run out of hard disk space.

Thank you for your response.

If I'm done with a project and I delete the captured files, hasn’t Vegas already saved what it needs for that project?

If I've sent it out to Architect and have it saved as an Authored project. Will deleting captures in Vegas affect this in any way?

Sony doesn't do a good job of explaining the significance of these issues (Even in the main catalog.)or did I miss it.

Thank you again.

[Rafi Bagramian] "If I'm done with a project and I delete the captured files, hasn’t Vegas already saved what it needs for that project? "

If you are totally finished with the project, save the VEG file, SFVidCap file, any "extra" material such as images and WAV files, and the original tapes. You can recreate the project from there.

If you have already created the DVD (i.e. have the Video_TS and Audio_TS folders) and are satisfied that you are completed, you can delete both the original project files AND the intermediate MPEG2 and/or AC3 files.
