I'm interested in the P4B533-E system.

I'm in the process of the installing that very motherboard right now. I'll post my experience when I have a chance to do some thorough testing.

You might try perusing the community forum at asusboard.com They've had quite a few discussions on the board you're considering.

I'm considering the p4b533 or the p4t533-c

Ok, I didn't wait to do thorough testing but my first impressions are good. The board fired right up once I got the power connector seated fully. I do not like the IDE connector positions. I have a tall tower and I'm going to have to get some longer cables to get my drives located in the upper part of the tower connected. The problem that drove me nuts was with a SIIG 1394 card. It installed the 1394 drivers but XP could not find the camera. Finally went out and got the PYRO and all is well with the world again. The SIIG apparently had a VIA chipset!

Vegas runs great. Five minute capture with preview, no dropped frames. Applied a Old Film track FX and realtime preview didn't even hiccup at Best resolution.

Asus P4B533E, audio only, no network, or other options.
2.0 GHz P4
512MB PC2100 RAM
Matrox G550
Promise Ultra66 IDE controller
Generic Network card
PYRO 1394 Card
MS XP Pro

I also replaced my 300W power supply with a 430W and its not even straining.

Did you try the IEEE1394 ports on the card? I think there are two of them on the P4B533-E.

Also, have you tried the on board raid?

Thanks

Berto

The board comes in different configurations. My configuration only has the audio option - none of the others. Be careful when you buy a board to make sure it has the options you are expecting.

You can easily disable any of those on board features in the bios. I wanted the plain mb but it was out of stock so I got the version that has audio, video and lan.I needed the board right away so I had to get it. Very easy to disable any of that stuff if you choose to. And the board was only $25 more than the plain one I wanted.
