Looks like 3.0 has some great improvements, batch capture is a good start.
Douglas, when you mentioned "Tons of new plug-ins", did you mean SoFo plug-ins or that it would support 3rd party pluggies?
Does the help menu need work? I could not find anything on the timecode burner? (a welcome addition)

Help isn't done quite yet. To use the timecode burn plug-in, just drop it onto the vegas preview window and we'll display project time (for foley etc). For roughcuts where you need to know source TC, throw it on every event.

Can you burn the time code to tape as well?

Yes. You can do a T/C window burn as well, and put it where you want it, not where someone tells you it has to be.

Excellent news - especially when making preview VHS tapes for clients (basic copy protection I know - but better than nuttin')
Not to mention the client be able NOT have to say "can you remove the "bit" before where she, you know ...." etc.

You could also stream a rendered version of the project with a timecode burn from your website and the clients could watch that right at their desk- no tape or shipping costs.

Now THAT is a clever little idea!

It seems to show the time code for the clip only. Is there a way to have it burn the timecode from the timeline? I've applied it to a couple of clips but it burns the timecode of each clip not the timecode of the project.
Am I missing something?

Apply it as a track filter rather than an event filter.

apply it to the preview window ("Video Output FX"). It'll never get obscured since it is the last thing in the chain.

The timecode burner is a filter. click the track filter button, look at the options and additional filters, and you'll see the timecode in there. No non-DirectX 3rd party plugs at this time, but it looks as though some 3rd parties will be doing some pluggie stuff. Of course, all the Pixelan filters work in there....

Got it... very cool, you can adjust size and position of the time code in a flash, but not the font, dammit! (just kidding) Was cookie cutter in 2.0? that's not too shabby either.

For a really cool effect, render the T/C over black media. Then place newly rendered T/C file over top of other moving media, use chromakey tool to remove black, and reduce opacity. Place several copies of T/C render at various times, blur some of them, using different sizes, filters, etc, and it makes for a really great background sequence. (lots of time codes running over top of something else) For added effect, use the track motion tool or panning tool to place T/C vertically rather than horizontally, or reverse. You can also use the velocity tool to make the T/C run backwards.

I thought I made a trippy time code burn by pinching it, but making it go backwards freaks me out.

Also, check out the Light Rays, Lens Flare, Linear / Radial Blurs and the Deform filters. All very cool.
