Firstly, many thanks Creative Cow for setting up this forum! Finally, a cool place to hang out with other "Illusionists" (Is that the right term?..) :-)

I've just put the finishing touches to my new website at http://homepages.tesco.net/~thistle/ so please check it out if you get the chance. (Includes my first Illusion emitter libraries, plus tons of 3D animation)

The paint is still a little wet in places, but it's now officially open to the masses. (Just remember to wipe your feet on the rug as you go in please) ;-)

Dave

Nice work! I was wondering why you didn't make the "force field" emitters area emitters instead of line emitters?

Alan.

Thanks Alan!

Good question! I could give you some long-winded answer explaining the exact, technical reason why I chose to go with a line emitter for the force field, but the honest answer is that I'm still a newbie at all this!..

Hopefully, I can learn something from the experts here.

Dave :-)

Hehe. Place one of those emitters on the stage, then R-click on it and select "Make Area". You can also change it to an area emitter in the library by editing the library (r-click in the library window and select "Properties") and changing it to "Area"... where is that exactly... on the "Properties" page of the props dialog, in the box labled "Shape".

Incidentally, converting an emitter's shape is often a really quick way of making a new effect. For instance, take a point emitter that you like and convert it to an area emitter. The effect is often *very* different. Note that you may need to decrease the "Number" property after converting, since non-point emitters tend to add more particles than point ones.

Alan.
