Hi All, I'm relatively new to PI, just getting the hang it all. But I'm after a particular effect, if someone can steer me in the right direction.

I'm wanting to create a mud splatter effect. Like if you're looking out a window and someone throws mud at it, it'll splat on the window, and then slowly run down.

Any suggestions on the best way to achieve this.

Many thanks

vin

I took a couple of stabs at this, but I'm still not sure the best way to go about it. I thought maybe using Don't Erase would be best, because that would let the particles leave a trail behind as they fell. That attempt ended up looking like a big brown blob. Then I tried a super emitter, but it ended up looking more like a muddy firework than anything.

Here's the "muddy firework" one if you want to have a look. The graphs I played around with most were the f-velocity over life graph, and the f-weight over life, basically trying to get the motion of a quick burst, a momentary stop, and then making the free emitters fall and leave a trail.

Elvis,
I'm having trouble opening the project file. I keep gettimg a
"not a valid particle illusion project file: error, each time I try to
load the file.

I've never had any problems loading PI3 files before?? tried loading other PI3
files an have no problems with them.

cheers

Elvis probably created that file with the 3.0.1 beta. You won't be able to open it until I release 3.0.1 in a few days.

(I would have already released 3.0.1 but I can't get confirmation that the changes fixed the problem with the Canopus DV codec.)

Alan.

I am willing to test for the Canopus codec; however, I was away last week when you posted the beta link, and it now seems not to be working. Can you send the beta update to me as an E-Mail attachment? or re-activate the link?
