TJFBasic brass (bullet shell) ejection...

Hi,

I'm relatively new to this wonderful program and I'm interested in using ParticleIllusion to add artificial brass ejection for a few gunfire scenes instead of the rather tricky particle system in 3dsmax.

I found an existing library in alan_01_05_iel with shell ejection, however it produces a constant flow of shells whilst I would like to have single shell ejection (for handguns).

Can anyone direct me to some useful tutorials on achieving this effect? I need shells to be ejected in all directions, as well as towards the camera. Is this possible?

Thanks for your help in advance!

You can get a single shell by doing a bit of editing to the Number graph. Set a new keyframe at frame 3 with a value of 100, and another keyframe at frame 4 with a value of 0.

To change the direction that the shell flies out of the gun, just change the Emission Angle. It's set at 90, so it's flying straight up. Changing it to 0 or 180 will send it to either side.

Another way to get a single shell is to check the Single Particle checkbox, and then just animate the position of the emitter.

Thanks for your help. I've only just recently begun to learn all the tricks of this program after shifting from 3DSMAX and Discreet Combustion.
