easy snow flake animation
by Justin on Nov 12, 2004 at 8:50:29 pm

This should be easy instead of making 30 layers of spinning flakes. I can't seem to get what i want through cc particle or preset animation snow. I have a nice snow flake made in photoshop. I just want to have a bunch floating down slowly and spinning. I'm not up on my expressions quite yet but isn't there an easy way to make one flake spin and repeat it and change the scale and all that without duplicating the layer a lot? Thx.

See Dan Ebberts tut "Building Your Own 3D Particle Generator", part of it is snow flakes, cool.

Thx for the links and helps guys. I haven't had a chance to try them but it looks like the expressions will make the layers spin in all directions. What i wanted was the snowflakes facing the camera but spinning clockwise. I guess i should have been more specific, unless i skipped past the expressions too fast. I ended up copying the layers 50x's and changing the ending positions randomly so they fall at different speeds. It turned out ok but it seemed like a pretty elementary process. didnt' take too long though. Any further help would be great in case I need to duplicate the process and just to know. The more the better. Thx.

Particle play ground is defintely the way to go . . . but thats only my two cents worth.

If you have 6.5, I find CC particle world very easy to use for these kinds of things. A lot more straightforward than Particle Playground
