3D programs that work with AE?

Hello,
I was just wondering which 3D modelling programs after effects 6 is most compatable with in terms of importing 3D models and environments. :-)

None. After Effects does not import 3D geometry. It only imports images. And camera settings/transforms from Maya, but that's not what you're asking about.

Cinema 4d!

You can export Cinema 4d projects as AE compositions.

Check it out-

Hi,
You can import camera data from C4D and Maya.
You can import almost any 3D object into ae using Invigorator.

Salut.
Serge

So Cinema 4D would be the best program for me to construct a 3D model of an object in, and then would i be able to import this into AE and animate the camera around the object? I'm a basic AE user but I'm looking to get improve my skills and I'm looking to experiment with more of a3D element in my work and I want to know which program would be best. I have previously used 3D max and only briefly with Maya.
Thanks for all your help, it's greatly appreciated :-)

When people say you can import cinema 4d or maya into after effects, they are talking about camera data, lights, and object positions. They are NOT talking about 3D models.

The only way to use actual 3d object in After Effects is with Zaxwerks Invigorator.

AE is best suited to enhancing a 3D render, not trying to build one from scratch. For example, we did a project where we had molecules flying around in a scene we created in Cinema 4D (well, lightwave but opened in cinema 4d). We then rendered the 3d scene and imported that image sequence into AE. We then exported the cinema 4d camera data into after effects, and added titles on top of the image sequence. The end result was that the AE titles appeared to be attached to the 3d objects.
