 | Rain in After Effects

Hi everybody,
is there a way to simulate rain in After Effects? I am making a promo for a show. We designed clouds moving left and right and now the director wants to add the effect of raining. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You need 6.5 for this.
1. Make a black solid over your clouds.
2. Select window>Effects & Presets, and type "rain" into the contains field at the top of the palette.
3. Drag the CC Rain effect from that palette to the black solid.
4. Set the transfer mode of the black solid to "screen".

You can also apply CC Rain to an empty comp above the clouds layer. Using an empty comp will create an alpha channel for the rain.

It is possible to create rain without having to use the plugin.
Take a Black Solid and apply Monochrome Noise to it. Then use directional blur to blur the nois in the direction you want your rain to be falling. Adjust the Amount of Noise and the length of the blur to taste and need.
Set the Solid to Screen Mode (you can also adjust the Levels so the rain will stand out more)
