Align to Spline - Tangential
by Michael Goldberg on Dec 13, 2004 at 9:42:56 pm
Hi,
I have a simple spline (essentially an open square) I have an object with an align to spline expression, and tangential checked. So far so good. As I animate my object, the axis I've selected, z, to be tangential does what you'd expect. The x and Y however at about 48% around flip to the opposite direction. What's causing this, and how can I avoid it?

It's normal behavior (which is magnified if you use a Lenear spline) as the Align to Spline tries to keep one of the axis' pointed upward. Works great for simple things. It is possible to change this by using a Rail Spline.

Hey Brian,
In this case, it seems like the axis in needs to keep pointing in the direction of the spline would not be affected by
not flipping the other axis. Nonetheless, How would I correct this with a rail spline?
