Curious if its stable, fast as PC, any drawbacks?? Still trying to decide between this app and LW7. Thanks!

I do not know the answer to some of your questions but I will offer this in responce to some of them...
I just got back from After Effects West and one of the courses I took was taught by Alex Lindsay (who has the reputation of being Lucusfilms fastest modeler ever). He did a course on 3D in AE and it was nothing short of amazing. At one point during the class, someone brought up Cinema4D and even though he prefers Electric Image, he spoke kindly and highly of C4D. But later when someone brought up Lightwave, he remarked some of the problems he's had with it due to the way that it handles intersecting angles, etc. He dismissed it offhand as a "3D tool that was developed by non-3D developers."
Me, I am a 2D kind of guy living in a 3D world and so I am no expert on the subject but when I hear Alex extol the virtues of Electric Image, speak kindly of Cinema4D and dismiss Lightwave as a crude modeler with some serious defects -- I listen.

Did he say what tools he uses for modeling? Also, any URLs for the AE stuff that he talked about? Sounds interesting.

From his commenst, he spoke of using EI to model the pod-race sequence in Episode One. When the subject of C4D's modeler was brought up, he said kind things that as a 3D neophyte, I can't recall because they were over my head. But when Lightwave was brought up, the message was clear: He seemed to post a "No Trespassing" sign.
I have no links other than to point to dvgarage.com as he didn't have any links in particular.

Im using XL7 on OSX - works fine, as fast as OS9. Only drawback is that plugins which work in OS9 don't work in OSX without recompiling. Hopefully this will change!
Can't comment on PC/Mac comparison, or LW
Hope this helps - CC

I gotta say I just installed XL7 on a dual 800 G4 under os x, and it is awesome!!! All I gotta say is that it splits up the render on processor 1 on the 1st half of frame and processor 2 on the 2nd half and if one finishes before the other it starts rendering what the other processor hasn't yet.
