CoreyWhat is the quickest way to create a shape like this...

I am trying to create this shape. It is a hatch for a tank. However, when I make the shape, the edges are smooth. I need to have sharp edges and corners. If you were to create a couple of linear splines in the shape of the triangles on the right and left, then lofted them, I would think you'd get nice sharp edges and corners.

How are you creating it now (and which app are you using)?

That is the way I have been trying to do it. (ie. two splines lofted together) However, as seen in this picture: http://homepage.mac.com/corey1/.Pictures/triangle.jpg

I can't get rid of that roundness on the top and bottom. Also, how do you put pictures in a message? Is ubb code or html enabled? Thanks to everyone for helping me out! I am new to cinema.

Can you post a wireframe of the mesh?

I cannot tell if that rounding is a smoothing problem or actual geometry.

You just reminded me to check the tags (smoothing tag!) I got rid of it and now it is flat. I can not belive I did not think of that! Why does that tag always show up with loft NURBS? Thanks again!

That object would be fairly easy to make actually... use a combintion of hypernurbs and polygonal modeling. Probably all of 5-10 minutes.

I used two open linear splines, lofted them, converted them to polys, used the bridge tool to close the ends. 5 minutes.

Use a similar method for the detail parts.
