3D max: Output to .mov file problem

I'm working with 3D studio max 3 and i'm seeming to get a problem during the outputting to quicktime .mov file. The problem seems to be when final render is created, to say that if a 10sec footage file was to be created the output would double my footage to 20secs with the first 10secs being that of a blank white screen. This problem only occurs in the quicktime format and not with windows standard .avi. So what could i do to correct this problem with the quicktime format. Sys. specs im running with is a 2.53 ghz p4 and 384RAM with Quick Time 6.0 so i don't think its a memory issue.
