 | Does this solve crashing problem?

I haven't had time to thoroughly exhaust these variables, but what do you think? Motion was crashing repeatedly for me the first week I got it. Constant beach ball of death. I almost gave up on it, took it into the Apple store and voila, I could not duplicate the problem for the tech.
OK, so the process of elimination begins. The only thing different was keyboard, monitor, USB drive and network connection. It appears after a couple of weeks testing that with the USB drive and ethernet unplugged, it is MUCH more stable. Even though the drive is powered off, when it's plugged in there are problems. This is not conclusive.
Another symptom: When I open the file browser to a particular directory. Motion will frequently crash. By switching to a root or empty dir, Motion performs better. In fact, I just ran M for a while, but once I changed to a directory with many files, the program crashed. Could possibly be something in the dir being read or cached? BTW, the preview player is turned off.
Hope this helps somebody to arrive at a solution. Like I said, none of this is conclusive but definitely makes a difference.
