Misbehaving buttons in DVDSP3 standard menus

I have created several standard menus in DVDSP3 with several buttons each. I have assigned different colors for the 3 different button states. Some buttons react the way I intended but most do not and as far as I know all were created equal. Is this a bug in DVDSP3 or am I missing something?

Are you using different color sets. I don't have my CPU in front of me but I think DVDSP has 3 color sets that you can assign to your buttons, with different activation states. Are they all using the same one? (i.e all using "set1") Or are you setting and assigning all 3 sets to certain buttons & your computer is confusing the three?

Not sure I fully understand the question but I am using just three different states for each button represented by the same colors for each state. In other words the menu has the original state in black but the other two states are yellow for selected and red for activated. This works as planned on only the first menu. All the others dont react at all although they do briefly flicker yellow when I mouse over them before the build. I'm new to DVDSP so maybe I'm misunderstanding something and maybe I'd be better off in layered menus but this seems like a simpler and quicker method if it works.
