AJA IO as ProTools Transcoder?

Not going to happen. The IO's native format is 10-bit uncompressed (26Mb/s) not DV (3.5Mb/s). That's too much data flying around if you are trying to run a seperate audio app at the same time.

SteinarIt really should not be a problem. The Aja IO can handle all sorts of formats, also DV streams.
The only thing missing is for the IO box to identify itself as an DV bridge for Mac OS

Can you identify in Documentation where this is stated?

The Aja IO is very similar to Avids Adrenaline unit, infact when you open it, the similarities are striking. The Adrenaline Unit was shown at IBC in conjuction with ProTools in the way I described in the first post.

The IO unit does not require a 10 bit uncompressed signal to output video, but it can handle it. It also handles a 25 mbit DV signal and outputs it on all output ports.

It might be another reason why this problem can't be solved with the IO unit, but it shouldn't be bandwidth.

While we wait for V10 (Digidesigns name for the Adrenaline unit), we need another option...
