 | 3.02 not updating 3.0
by Dave on Mar 6, 2005 at 6:49:14 pm |
I tried to update Red stand alone & the FCP 4 plugin and I get a message that says (No installation necessary. The files to be installed are already on your disk, or are not needed for your hardware setup.) The Red plugins are still 3.0 any ideas what this means?
Thanks

This message means that none of the engines for the Red 3.0.0 Release, Red 3.0.1 Release, or Red 3.0.1 Try and Buy were found with their original installed location and name:
/Applications/Boris RED(tm) 3.0/Boris RED(tm) 3.0 Engine
To fix this, you must install 3.0 or 3.0.1 before the patch will work. Also the engines cannot be altered in any way or the patch will not recognize them. Also, the FCP 4 plugin will not install the patch without the presence of the Red Engine. So probably you need to make sure that the Red Engine is installed in the default location.
If that doesn't work, contact Boris support and they can help you.

Okay here's what happened, I bought a new powerbook and I let the Apple's program that moves everything to the new computer for you do just that. I was just about to erase the HD on my old Powerbook so I tried the insatll there and it worked. So I guess it was a bad idea letting Apples program move everything over to the new computer. Lesson learned.
