I'm talking about a momentary reflection or glint of light coming off an object that you often see in cartoons, etc, to draw attention to a product or make it seem clean. Sometimes people use it as an effect on super white teeth that have just been brushed. A lot of times there's a pleasent bell or chime played as the glint flares. That kind of thing.
I use Sony Vegas and the nearest thing it has it a lens flare, which doesn't really work at all. Is there some way to get this effect in Red?
Thanks for any help!

I was going to say that Boris Continuum has some nice lens flare effects, but if that's not what you're looking for...I suppose Red's Light Zoom or Glow filter would give you something of a highlight effect that doesn't look like a lens flare.

Boris Continuum Complete is what you want.

It has Glare, Glint, Glitter and 2 Lens Flare filters and all 5 are OGL optimized. I know using these filters you could get the desired effect.

Here is extruded text I made in RED with the BCC glint filter added.

Hey, how did you attach an image into your post? I wouldn't mind doing that to show off some stuff.

You have to already have your image uploaded to a site. There are tons of free image hosting sites out there but they all have file size and image size limitations. Most ISP's give you web space so you could always upload to that.

After you upload your image somewhere get the url:

then you need to use html to post it.
you need to type
img src="your images url" Make sure you use the qoute marks.
you need to the whole thing inside these <>.

If you need a better explanation then email me off the forum

Just wanted to thank y'all for the help. Cont Complete does sound nice, but I wish Boris hard just come with these filters. I'll also have to check out how to post things like that.
The only thing that concerns me is giving an email address like that. Is this not a risk for spammers anymore.?

RED can do something like it...
Using a spline primitive, select star and make it really skinny and long. From there rotate it and use a transfer mode like add or overlay and increase the brightness to your liking. You now can, also, move the star along a path with your position controls.
Need another star? Just duplicate the track and if you want to adjust the length and rotation so it doesn't look just like the other one.
Repeat as many times as you need.
HTH,
Tim
