Burning a dvd-rw for playback in dvd players?

i got a dvd-rw as a test dvd so i could add and remove things as i wish. when i burn the project to a dvd-rw in encore it wont play back in my dvd player. I know some dvd players dont support the rw format but the thing is that the dvd wont even register in the dvd drive on my computer.
