Mark TimeA couple(?) of question about motion menus
by on Nov 9, 2003 at 6:23:16 am

Hi (again, and again and again):-)

Q1) As per the suggestion in the manual , I have prepared four 10 second clips to use on my animated buttons, so I can fade each end for a nicer looping effect. I link my four buttons in my sub-menu to these 4 clips, BUT when I link the buttons to the chapter points in the timeline the button images change to the frame where the chapter points are set in my main timeline. Any ideas???

Q2) My four 10 second clips were imported already in DVD mpeg format, when I try to pre-render my motion menu to test, it takes FOREVER. Well, maybe 40 to 50 minutes. What am I missing, if anything? 2gigP, 512mem

Q3) Do I have to set a menu duration on menues with no motion effects, like the menue templates, or just leave them at zero?

Thanks(again, and again and again):-)

Q1) I assume you mean that the chapter points you have set are sitting on solid black frames? Piece of cake. Select the chapter marker in question, move the timeline marker to a piece of the clip that is not black, presumably about 3-4 seconds down the timeline, and right-click on the time indicator OR the chapter marker, and choose "Set Poster Frame"...

Q2) If your footage was already in DVD format and you added something in front of it (i.e. any content layer from a Photoshop file which is anything that doesn't have a name in paretheses (+), (%), (=1), (=2), (=3)) forces the need to re-render the motion menus. In short, if you put ANYTHING in front of a motion menu, Encore will need to re-render the whole thing.

Q3) If a menu doesn't move, you do not need to set a duration. This is a minor bug... Encore should grey out this option under these circumstances.
