Adding subtitles?

Hi there,
I'm new to subtitleworkshop. The help of that program says:
To add subtitles:
1. In the Title List, select the title where you want to add a subtitle.
2. In the Options Panel, click the Subtitle tab.
3. Click Add/Edit Subtitles to open the Add/Edit Subtitles dialog box.
But I was unable to find a "Options panel", or if "Options panel" is "Global settings", I didn't find anything like "Subtitle tab" in it
Also, I found no info about the subtitle supported formats anywhere, for me it looks like it supports no subtitles(although I've read on the web it does).
