I have the full version of DVD Workshop, I like DVDit! PE but I need more features so I was going to change to DVD workshop. But when I have a video that is long an hour or more the scrubbing gets really slow and even if I try to put my points in manually its really slow to the point of unuasable. Any thoughts??

My videos are often 90 mins + & I have no problems (2 menus/24 chapters for the last one).

I usually encode with MSPro 6.5 (Main Concept MPEG Now)

Please provide your specs & source file.

Thanks

John

I have a Storm and use ProCoder to encode, I have a pent 4 1.9 gig with a gig of memory and maxtor 160 gig drives. Now that I think about it my DVDit! PE did this for a while until they updated the decoder, I dont know id like to get it working because if I cant im getting Reel DVD and id like to save the money.

Hi
I don't know if it makes a difference but there was a Procoder patch in early December 2002

http://www.canopus.com/US/support/drivers/support_driverdownloads.php

New MPEG encoder option - "DVD-compatibility mode"
RealVideo 9 (Helix) support
Multi-bitrate configuration for Windows Media and RealVideo output
MPEG-2 Main Profile at High Level (MP@HL) support
MPEG-2 3:2 pulldown flag can be set
Automation features for droplets and silent completion
Option to discard field when encoding to 1/2 height progressive targets
Improved NTSC<->PAL quality
Raw DV file import
MPEG-2 quality improved even more
MPEG-1 unconstrained parameters
Better AVI import
Adaptive Deinterlacer improved
"Scale after crop" option for the Crop filter

Regards

John

Thanks John thats the version im runnning. ProCoder is supposed to have an update soon that will let me set my markers from Premiere that will make this a moot point.

Randy... I use Procoder all of the time and don't have scrubbing problems in Workshop.

Interesting... I wonder what is going on.

How big are your projects?, I only have the problem when its an hour or more. Also what encoder settings do you use?

Most of mine are right around an hour... I use VBR 7500 Max 6000 Min. :)

O.K., Im not sure why but it seems o.k. now, I encoded a 150 min. video with ProCoder's Program Stream (Actually it seems I can get 2 hours of pretty good video without AC-3) and it scrubbs o.k..It starts off fine but slows down as it gets into the video, it is still slow but usable (About 15 seconds to update to a new location). Maybe it was because I was doing elementary streams and since it wouldnt see my wave I was doing mpeg video only and maybe it didnt like that. Now I just need to get it installed on my work machine and im set. I may not upgrade to Reel DVD now.
