Hi,
I will be working on a project shot on HD 24p. There will be other elements at 30fps. I will have the HD transferred to miniDV as dvcam for the offline. My question is: should i have the 30fps footage transferred to 24p (is that possible?) or do i need to have the HD converted to 30fps (will that lose the integrity of 24p?)? Also, what would be the best way to online to maintain the best possible quality?

I should have asked this on the first round but...What is your final destination? HD - SD - frame rate? Film? Tape? Broadcast? Public display? Do you have access to the HD deck or are you paying for downconverts? Are you working in 16x9 or 4x3, is your 30 material HD or SD?
We could use just a few more details before we can help you.

As of now, I believe the final product will be put to film. Currently, we do not have access to a HD deck and we will be paying for downconverts. It is unclear wether we will be working in 16x9 or 4x3 (though i would imagine that 16x9 would be the directors choice). Our 30fps material is SD. By the way, I really appreciate you taking the time to help!

Another suggestion is to use Blade in 24P mode when cutting your DV as long as you captured in 24. The SR HD 3.0 system will edit that quite well. SR HD 3.0 edits 24 quite well. You can also convert the entire timeline to a thumbnail mode of images sequences to edit in low Res then simply switch the timeline back to finals mode. Much easier paradigm for film makers.
One of the other things you have to watch out for is the up converting areas. All the editors out there will simply blow up the picture when going to HD from standard def. in-sync has an alogrythm called 16 times your neighbor that gives the best color matching when doing those types of conversions. It is a scale, but it is a superior scale than what else is out there in the marketplace.
