Hi,

I wonder if someone could let me know what connections they are using to master via SDI (we have the extreme card) to Digibeta. I have a Horita black burst generator. I find that when I feed reference to the Decklink card the color phase of the output becomes unstable, (looking at the signal on the vectorscope the vector gets kind of jittery ) if i don't use any reference the image seems to slip downward on othe monitor.. I'm a bit confused becasue I had thought that the digibeta gets all the sync it need via the sdi and didn't need any analog sync signal..

Anyhow if someone could detail how they have it all connected I'd be grateful..

Ok.. I had made a mistake.. I had the composite out of the card going into the deck as a reference instead of a feed from the ref generator. I feed sync to both units from the Horita and it seems to work fine.

I'm still confused. I seem to recall that the Decklink didn't need sync.. but if i don't feed it sync then i get timing problems .. it's ok i've got it working but I'd like to understand.. I also thought that when the deck used the sdi input that it got it's sync via sdi.. not analog sync.. anyone know of a good source of information about all this?

thanks

Jason

Hello Jason,
you need to change a switch from ext.Ref to input.ref.
It is somewhere on the top left side (front) when you pull out the front panel.
Dont' know by heart the exact location....

Best regards
Uwe

Hi Jason,

If you connect your digiBeta directly to your BM card, no external sync source is needed.
You have to switch your Digi to get it's output ref from video-in (on a DVW-500P It's called OUPUT-REF, a little swich on the pull-out panel under the audio metering section) Otherwise your mointor will start 'walking' during recording (the signal recorded to tape will be fine by the way)

If 'servo ref' is set to auto in the Digi setupmenu, the Digi will atomatically sync to SDI input, when no extarnal ref is connected. (check on the backside of your recorder, pull it out if needed :)

If your Digi is connected via a router or switch, then all appliances have to be connected to the same refsignal. So the signal coming from the BBgenerator, has to be splitted (preferably by an active video-splitter) and connected to genlock in of the BM card, REF in of the Digi and REF in of the switch.

So, it's either no BBgenerator, or BB to all interconnected appliances.

Here we connect 6 FCP stations and an Inferno to 3 DigiBeta's using a Pesa SDI router. All the machines are provided with blackburst from one single BBgenerator, splitted with a 1in-8out active 'Video-brick'. So from the machine-room there are 4 cables to each editing room. SDI in, SDI out, RS and Blackburst. Works fine!

Hope this helped you out a bit, sorry if my post post is ull of info you may already know :)

goodluck.

Thank heavens; there's a sign of progress here..
