From what I saw at NAB, the big difference isn't AE/Combustion output, but rather the extended Mac desktop. AE/Combustion/Shake/Commotion etc. use the same QT VOUT that FCP uses to pump out video. So the only big app that will not have NTSC/PAL previews is Photoshop (echofire will solve this). Unless FCP4 isn;t using VOUT and is rather using something new.

I saw IO, and it looks really cool. I am assuming that all of the hardware manufacturers will standardize on the Apple codecs, and RT will go to the proc on all systems. This will really help our work, since Apple will concentrate on the codec and RT, and everyone else will have to differentiate themselves through other features. This is how innovation works. =)
