Re: Seagate vs. Maxtor...

When I set up my first uncompressed system three and a half years ago, I was trying to get Seagate Cheetahs, but my local dealer only had Quantum (now Maxtor) Atlas drives. I heard negative reports about Quantums in the past, and had an old Atlas die on me within a month back in '95... I went with these Atlas 10k2's anyway since I was getting a good deal and could have them in my machine immediately. They are still humming along in my main machine without an incident. Plus they are much quieter than the Seagate drives. I have since added Maxtor Atlas 10k3's to my other systems, and they are all running great as well. I highly recommend them.
