[ Adam Portnoy ] I believe this is what Gigawire was going to be. Not sure if they are going to use that name or not. Pretty much SD out of the box. No card needed. I have no idea about RT or connectors, adapters, harddrives or anythhing. Just that concept.
This was actually announced at NAB last year. It's not a rumor, there's even a
press release from back then. HD and DVCPro 50/100 over FireWire. I can't wait to see this stuff.
Anyway, you dont' need FireWire 800/IEEE1394b to move uncompressed video.
Omneon have been doing that for ages, for example. Remember, 601 uncompressed video is only 270 Mbps. FireWire is 400 Mbps.
