[ Marco Solorio ] This is a DV25 standards issue. Currently, 24p is not "supported" in DV25 as a spec even though you can dump it to tape as such. I'm sure this will change in time with the popularity of low cost 24p production. The decks (and cameras) would need to have the option to output with 3:2 pulldown insertion. And then, if it needs to be cadence accurate, you run into more issues. And then there's timecode. Oh well, I'm sure it'll happen at some point for DV25. Only a guess though.

Uhm, is 24p "supported" at all in NTSC?

I was speaking about the Aja/BMD card's capability of adding the 3:2 pull-down on playback, not about it being a standard or not. Since the card can do this with JPEG as well as 8/10 bit uncompressed 23.98 -> 29.97, I assume the card could potentially do this on playthrough of DV. I doubt it would be more complicated with DV, since in any case both the JPEG and BMD codec needs to be processed in order to create the judder frames...

As far as timecode, we all know that FCP has serious issues dealing with 23.98 timecode from 29.97 material, bu really amazing things happen when you remove 2:3:3:2 pull-down of material from the Panasonic AGDVX-100 before it enters FCP (for example using DVFilm Maker). For example, using the DV start/stop detection inserts the markers at entirely the wrong place -- seemingly. In reality it uses the real timecode, so in reality it just gets messed up. Quite amusing.
