This is not the Marco Codec Page Forum

It seems an earlier thread is degenerating into an attack on Marco's motivations as a way of discrediting the findings of his codec page. Not cool. And while Marco is very good at defending himself, it's about time that thread ends.

This forum is very open to discussing anything perhipherally related to the Kona board and SDI, including the various codecs. And given the nature of the type of users the Kona board attracts, this forum has focused on how to achieve the highest quality results with FCP - as opposed to "just getting the job done".

Additionally, this forum has never been a Cinewave-bashing forum. In fact, it would be rather easy to find several threads where we have suggested people give the Cinewave a long hard look.

And while Marco's page is very interesting and the knowlege he has acquired while developing it is very valuable - it's shortcomings have been duly noted. And while some may dispute the relevance of his findings, they are all based on manufacturer-approved codecs that are currently being distributed.

And for future reference, a continual rehashing of these issues would work against the main purpose of this message board, which is to focus on supporting those of us buying, installing and using the Kona board. We will continue to strive to treat the Kona's competitors even-handedly and of course urge potential customers to visit the other manufacturer message boards that are also conveniently located on the Cow.
