[Al J. Marschke] "The negative speculation on forums can only hurt Media 100 and in turn hurt the user base. Being more respectful of the facts & power of a forum will serve all users a little better. The sky is not falling yet."

The fact is that the staff at Marlboro has been reduced from 60 to 30. That is not speculation. This was stated to me directly by one of those 30 still employed at Media 100. I was also told by this person that all product development for the 844/X beyond the 3.0.4. maintenance release, which is to be released in about two weeks (conversation was last week), are now in limbo. Another source, with close ties to Media 100, told me that all of the engineering staff, that were involved with the development of the 844/X, are gone.

Media 100 is required by law to support the warranties and contracts for their existing installed base. Beyond that, all bets are off.

Optibase's decision and official announcement, and Media 100's following official press release did more damage to Media 100 and the client base than any comment on this forum ever could. Also read Bob Turner from Videosystems article "Media 100 News: Is Media 100 finally dead?", linked in John Buck's post in this forum.

The sky may not have fallen yet but we Media 100 users and supporters are growing weary of holding it up. Unfortunately we were treated as just an errant number on Optibase's balance sheet.
