I really enjoyed this thread - I am always looking for ex-edit*ors
I am still using Edit 6 (10 years) and now FCP (for a year now), which I find slow by comparison to Edit for everyday offlining.
My question is - I use edit for long-form programmes and AE/Combustion for spots. How good is 844x at the long form, day to day stuff? We are not big enough to keep an 844x just for finishing - would it be wrong to try and offline on it, where 90% is single-layer-cutting where the speed is down to the editor and the design of the interface rather than the power of the box. Clients sit in and expect instant responses to simple edits.
I remember a year ago 844x had some real issues with long timelines and wasn't really tooled up for daily grind editing.
What do you ex edit*ors recon, I know it does great layering, but can it do what Edit was best at.?
Thanks
Frank
