Is this the setting under "Acquire Pref" then "clip media" and "trim handles?" My problem isn't the edl -- as you say, that's a text file. I just can't get the 844/X to give handles on each side of the original clips (which, in this case, are defined by the edl).
By "artificial" I meant that the clips exist in the timeline only because of the edl and not because they were logged from a real tape and then cut into the timeline "normally." I guess the whole process is "artificial" so I don't know what I was trying to say . . .
Sorry for the confusion, but now I'm confused. I've searched "handles" in help, and only seen the above referenced, and clip handles isn't doing anything for me. Am I missing something? I'll send you the edl, if you like, although it imports fine into our other two systems. What's your email address?
