"marco what is your true assesment of cinewave? from a lot of your posts i think i can detect a bit of a general "it's not all it's cracked up to be" vibe...i may be totally wrong...but it's just an observation. "
No, not at all. I think the Cinewave RT Pro with Pro DA BOB is a great system for sure. It's just that the different systems have different functions that meet different facility's needs. I also feel it's outliving its current pricing structure on hardware that is getting surpassed by faster PCI busses and host CPU processing. The Pro DA BOB alone costs more than an AJA iO box... a box that is better in BOB I/O functionality in every possible way. I personally feel Pinnacle should really adjust their product pricing to keep with the thriving development of their competitors.
Please don't take my clarification of technical specs as a point to write Cinewave off as a bad system. I find it important that people understand the technical aspects of their specific needs so they know what they're paying for and can make a better buying decision for what they truly need. Some people may not need the accuracy depth of native 10-bit, and this isn't a big deal. There are just so many variables in place that need to be considered for different types of workflows.
For many happy Cinewave users, the Cinewave system was/is definitely the right choice for them. If in the end you feel the Cinewave will fit your bill for what you need to do, then I'd say go with it for sure. There is absolutely *no* perfect system out there. They each have they're unique pluses as well as weaknesses, whether it's DeckLink, iO, Igniter and yes, even Cinewave.
There's really only three major items of Cinewave that I feel are inferior to other products. Cost, lack of true native 10-bit technology (for those that need it) and a 33Mhz PCI buss for use with a G5.
