The real time effects implemented by RTExtreme and Cinewave are completely different and seperate. RTExtreme was developed by Apple and runs in software only - they will speed up with the IBM PPC 970 (G5). The Cinewave RT effects was developed by Pinnacle and is limited by the Cinewave's hardware processing engine.

This same engine is in the Targa 3000, which can still do a lot more in real time than the Cinewave can, so I believe that Pinnacle should be able to improve the RT capabilities of Cinewave further.
